15000 AND MORE
Project by Studio Klus
Commissioned by Amsterdam Light Festival

As Studio Klus we have been selected among 1800 artists from 93 countries to create a light artwork in the historic canals of the Amsterdam. The "15000 and more" installation is inspired by bikes but in reality it emphasizes their context.

They say that there are more bikes than people in the Amsterdam. As a matter of fact, about 15000 bikes are being fished out of the Amsterdam canals every year. This phenomenon, strongly connected to its context relates to many social aspects of the urban lifestyle, such as the relatively unknown profession of the "bike fisherman", the strong influence of the canal network on the city of Amsterdam, but also the essential relationship between this friendly medium of transportation and the quality of urban space and its citizens.
